Broncos Softball & Baseball Both Dominate at Lake of the Woods
In International Falls, the Bronco Baseball and Softball teams were both over at Lake of the Woods yesterday, and both teams would get dominant wins over the host. Hayden Swenson drove in seven runs on five hits to lead the Broncos Baseball team past Lake of the Woods 18-5. Swenson doubled in the second scoring two, doubled in the third scoring two, doubled in the seventh scoring two, and doubled in the seventh again to score one. International Falls won thanks in part to 10 runs in the seventh inning. Keaton Maish earned the win, the right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one.
Emmit Olson collected the save. The team collected 18 hits total in the game. Olson, Kaden Korpi, Kramer, Maish, and Torin Thompson each collected multiple hits as Korpi had three walks. International Falls Varsity Broncos stole five bases in the game. Next up, they stay on the road tomorrow for a conference game at Deer River on Thursday.
The Bronco Softball team would get their own dominant win against Lake of the Woods, shutting them out 13-0. The biggest contribution to the win came from the Broncos scoring 9 runs in the first inning. Jaeleigh Carlson would start on the mound for the win, throwing three strikes in two innings and allowing a hit and 3 walks. Peyton Grashorn would pitch in relief for two innings and throw two strikeouts and give up 3 hits and no walks. Alyana Koenig would also step into the circle to close the 5th inning allowing a hit and no runs. Laney Taylor led the Broncos at the plate hitting 4 for 4 with three doubles. Her along with Neva Kokesh, Jaeleigh Carlson, Cheznee Skrien, and Camryn Rasmussen would each score two runs for the win. The Broncos hope to play their home opener on Monday in a doubleheader against Roseau.
