Busy Weekend for United Faith Church: Pop-Up Market on Saturday, Ordinary Elephant on Sunday
Over at the United Faith Church here in the Falls, they have a busy weekend planned that starts the morning of Saturday, July 20th. There’s gonna be a Pop-Up sale at 8am and we got to talk to Peggy Kelly about the event!
So how did the fundraiser begin?
And there is so so much that is being offered at the sale.
All of the items were donated by the community to be sold by Faith United.
Peggy Kelly then shared some more information about the sale and what people can look forward to.
She also gives a reminder of when and where the pop-up sale is taking place.
She also clues us in to the Open Range Concert – Up North the happens Sunday night, July 21st at 7pm!
In fact, we even got to talk to Ordinary Elephant who will be coming to International Falls for the first time!
They’ve been making music together for quite a while now.
It was even through their music that they had met and eventually even married!
And that banjo purchase became the awakening for them into the genre of folk music.
They were then asked the origins of the name “Ordinary Elephant”.
Ordinary Elephant have been on what seems like an endless tour around the country.
This tour has taken them to very very far places.
And that was clearly a very fateful meeting since it led to them coming up here for a concert on Sunday.
With these constant, long car rides it must help out a lot with writing new songs for a potential next album.
Despite the Falls being the farthest they’ll ever be up North, it surprisingly isn’t the craziest distance they’ve gone.
So were there any favorites for locations and/or venues?
They have even been able to make a couple music videos which are available on youtube!
And with having written so many songs, do they have a favorite?
Certainly, one way to know you’ve made it is if another artist makes a cover of your song! So have a listen to one of Ordinary Elephant’s songs, this is “The Prophet”:
