Celebrate Syttende Mai at Fosston Library and Arts Center
Norwegian Constitution Day is the official National Day of Norway, celebrated on the 17th of May. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to simply as “Syttende .Mai. East Polk Heritage Center together with the Sons of Norway Grandlund Lodge are celebrating Syttende Mai on Tuesday, May 17th at the Fosston Library and Art Center with a free Scandinavian dessert buffet along with a concert. Desserts will be served starting at 6:00 and the concert begins at 7:00. A variety Norwegen delicacies prepared by local people will give you a taste of Norway according to Bonnie Stewart.
The concert by the O’Neil Family Band offers a variety of folk music for all to enjoy.
While you are at the Fosston Library and Art Center visit the Sorenson Gallery and view Scandinavian textiles and traditional national costumes that pay homage to the past of many immigrant Norwegen families in the area today.
