City of Ada Receives $506,000 Grant for Housing Rehab Program
Ada, MN — Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan on Tuesday announced over $20 million in funding for small cities, townships, and counties in Minnesota. The Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) grants will be used for infrastructure and rehabilitation projects in 34 Minnesota cities, townships, and counties. Included in that is the City of Ada, who will receive $506,000 for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation projects.
Ada City Administrator says homeowners will be able to apply for up to $25,000 for core infrastructure and structural needs, such as windows, siding, and roofing.
SCDP grants will be administered by the Department of Employment and Economic Development and are part of the Community Development Block Grant Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grants are administered by DEED’s Small Cities Development Program Unit. The SCDP grants pay for rehabilitating housing and commercial buildings and updating public infrastructure in small cities and counties.
Larson says those who submitted letters of interest will be notified soon and will be given priority during the application process.
Eligible projects must meet one of three objectives: benefit people of low and moderate incomes; eliminate slum and blighted conditions; or eliminate an urgent threat to public health or safety.
