City Of Fertile Files Documents In Lawsuit Against Angie Leiting
The City of Fertile filed defense motions Friday in its upcoming court case regarding the dismissal of Fair Meadow Nursing Home administrator Angie Leiting last June. Fertile Mayor Dan Wilkens, City Administrator Lisa Liden, and Council Members Amanda Bosman, Mary Kiefert, Todd Wise and Matthew Massman have all signed affidavits saying they “have great respect for Minnesota’s Open Meeting Law”, never intended to violate the Open Meeting Law, didn’t know they were violating the Open Meeting Law and if they did, it was “due to a genuine misunderstanding.” Leiting is suing the City of Fertile, the City-owned Fair Meadow Nursing Home and Mayor Wilkens for violating the Open Meeting Law four times in early 2023 to discuss removing her from her job. In her request for a summary judgment, Leiting is asking that Wilkens and the four City Council members all be removed from office. The first court date is set for February 23 in Polk County.
The Fertile City Council meets Monday evening (2/12) at 7pm.
