City of Halstad Receives $100,000 Dekko Foundation Grant; Plus More City Council News & Notes
Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, September 12th where they set the preliminary levy, discussed the Landmark building, approved a property acquisition, and more.
There was a huge grant announcement recently as the City of Halstad found out that they were the recipients of a $100,000 matching grant from the Dekko Foundation. Halstad Mayor Darin Johnson says the grant will be used for the continued development of the Landmark facility and its programming.
If you would like to make request for proposal for the Landmark property or would like more information, visit the city website, www.halstad.com.
Also at this week’s meeting, the Halstad City Council agreed to take up the Valley United Co-op on an offer to purchase their property on the south end of town for just $1, which Mayor Johnson says they will use for public truck parking.
With the on-going Red River Co-Op Power construction project causing havoc on that road, Johnson says they are more than likely going to have to repave that road in the future and likely assess part of that project back to the company.
And Mayor Johnson invites everyone to participate in this weekend’s Sugar Fest on Saturday.
The Halstad City Council also set their preliminary levy at 5%.
