County Commissioner Weighs in on Waste Disposal

Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee was in studio to talk about Environmental Services involving the Incinerators in our areas.

The Senate Board Meeting was held last month. A plan has been formed to align to the new laws affecting landfills across the state. The Bonding Request affects 9 counties in the project. Joan shares more:

This project will be costly and will eventually be statewide. The total cost for the project is 84 Million. The State would provide 61.5 Million with local costs being around 22.5 Million. The project outline is still be to determined this Fall. Joan shares that although this will be a statewide change, our region is the first to make a plan and begin heading forward with a plausible solution.
