Cow Shot in Norman County During Opening Weekend of Deer Season
Twin Valley, MN — While hunter success was low for the opening weekend of deer hunting, reports of hunter violations appear to be up in the area, according to reports from the Minnesota DNR and Norman County Sheriff’s Office. Both are currently investigating a report of a cow being shot southwest of Twin Valley over the weekend. Norman County Sheriff Deputy Ben Fall says at this point it appears a stray bullet may have struck the animal.
Please contact the Norman County Sheriff’s Office if you have any information. In the meantime, they remind hunters to know their target and what’s beyond it. In 2014, a young hunter in the Shelly area was killed by a stray bullet while hunting.
Other violations reported this past weekend included trespassing, poaching off of private land, hunting over bait, and illegal party hunting. Captain Phil Seefeldt, MN DNR Enforcement Division, says if you witness illegal hunting activity, please report it to local authorities or utilize their TIP line.
Again the number for the TIP line is 1-800-652-9093.
