CROOKSTON, MN—A Crookston man is in custody after prosecutors say he threatened to set her on fire and physically assaulted her during a domestic dispute.  20-year-old Jimmy Allen Gray, Jr. is facing two felony charges: threats of violence and domestic assault.  The incident happened last Friday, February 27 at a Crookston residence.  According to the criminal complaint, Gray and a woman got into an argument over her phone.  During the argument, Gray allegedly threatened to pour synthetic oil and gasoline on her.  A witness told police he saw Gray with his hands around the woman’s throat and heard him say he was going to set her on fire.  When law enforcement arrived at the residence, Gray had gone.  He was found nearby and was taken into custody.  Gray also had the woman’s phone with him. According to court records, Gray was in the legal system as a juvenile for threats of violence in November 2020…and was convicted of felony threats of violence in February 2025.
