CROOKSTON, MN—A Crookston man who was already on probation for a felony is now in more hot water. 24-year-old Dustin Thomas Williams has been charged with engaging in electronic conversation relating to or describing sexual contact with a child.  According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County, Williams was sentenced in October 2025 to a stay of imposition and supervised probation after being convicted for felony threats of violence.  Then last week, Williams’ probation officer told a Crookston Police detective that Williams had reportedly been communicating with a minor in a sexual manner.  A detective reviewed TikTok messages between Williams and a 13-year-old that started in August. According to the complaint, the two discussed how inappropriate the age difference was between them, then began talking about sex and then moved to another social media platform to share images.  Williams was detained at a meeting with his probation officer last Thursday and admitted to investigators that he, quote “wasn’t in the correct headspace at the time.”  Williams is in custody at the Northwest Regional  Corrections Center.  He’s looking at a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
