Dr. Alex Sauer Joins Lakewood Health System Medical Staff

Staples, MN – September 2, 2022 — Alex Sauer, MD, joins Lakewood Health System’s medical staff as its newest family medicine physician.

Originally from Brainerd, MN, Dr. Sauer received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth and her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth and Minneapolis. She completed a family medicine residency in Duluth. Dr. Sauer is a member of the American Board of Family Medicine.

As a family medicine physician, Dr. Sauer has special interests in obstetrics, women’s health, pediatrics and preventative health. She will practice full-spectrum family medicine by seeing patients of all ages in the clinic, hospital, and emergency department.

“I am honored to be joining the excellent team at Lakewood Health System” said Dr. Sauer. “I was at Lakewood during medical school for the Rural Physician Associate Program (RPAP) and fell in love with the community and people in the Staples area. I’m excited to be returning to the community.”

Dr. Sauer enjoys spending time with family and friends and being in the outdoors hiking and going on walks with her dachshund. She also loves to spoil her new baby nephew and read a good book.

Dr. Sauer will be seeing patients in Lakewood’s Staples and Pillager clinics.
