Dr. James Stokman now Board certified
Dr. James Stokman, Fellowship-Trained Spine Specialist at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, recently became Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Board certification is an optional accreditation process that sets the standards for excellence in orthopaedic care. Physicians who obtain this certification demonstrate their commitment to providing excellent patient care in their respective specialty.
Dr. Stokman returned to his hometown of Crosby in 2020 to practice as the Brainerd Lakes Area’s only spine surgeon. He utilizes advanced techniques to perform spinal decompression, fusion, and cervical disc replacement. Dr. Stokman collaborates with orthopaedics, interventional pain specialists, osteopaths, and physical therapy for a holistic approach.
Dr. Stokman earned his Medical Degree with honors at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. He completed a Spinal Surgery Fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2020 and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Wisconsin Orthopedics and Rehabilitation in Madison, Wisc., in 2019. He also earned bachelor’s degrees Magna Cum Laude in biochemistry and Catholic studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. He is 2005 graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School.
