Essentia Health – Fosston Redirecting Labor and Delivery Services to Other Hospitals

Fosston, MN — Essentia Health in Fosston recently announced that they will be redirecting the labor and delivery services in their Obstetrics, or OB, program to other partner hospitals. Dr. Cheryl White and Dr. James Christiansen of Essentia Health provided an update on the situation during the KKCQ Food for Thought Program this week. Dr. White says the decision simply came down to staffing.

However this redirection only impacts labor and delivery. The rest of the OB services such as prenatal care, pregnancy checkups, and afterbirth care still can be done in-house at Essentia Health in Fosston.

As for the future of delivering babies at the Fosston Hospital, Dr. White says it will require some stability with staffing before bringing it back.
