Freshman Addison Sage scored 11 of her team high 12 points in the first half as Thompson’s girls’ basketball team won its home opener Tuesday, 46-42 over Badger-Greenbush-Middle River.

The Tommies jumped to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter, but BGMR went on a 9-1 run to tie the game in the second quarter.  Thompson regained the lead at intermission 30-24.

In the third quarter, the Gators tied the game at 34 with 3:30 left in the frame.  Thompson led 37-34 after three and kept that advantage to the end.

Senior Jade Reese led BGMR (2-1) with 16 points.  The Gators are off until next Monday, when they face Northern Freeze in Karlstad.

Thompson improves to 2-1 on the season and will travel to North Border on Friday.
