Big plays helped key the Velva-Garrison-Drake-Anamoose Aggies to a Semifinal victory over the Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros 20-12. The Aggies opened the scoring on the first drive of the game with a 61-yard catch and run Touchdown from Treyson Iglehart. After the 2-point conversion run was good the score stayed 8-0 through the remainder of the first half. The Burros started the second half with the football and started to gain offensive momentum before a bad pitch was fumbled and the Aggies recovered and returned the football for a touchdown and 14-0 lead. The Burros kept battling and needing a score they converted a 4th-down with a 25-yard pass to Peter Dryburgh for the Touchdown and pull within a score at 14-6. Again the big play occurred for the Aggies as good blocking and evasive running spring Iglehart for  a 34-yard run into the red zone that was finished off with a Payton Bodine 5-yard TD run. The Burro offense answered with a Jake Swanson 1-yard TD run with 1:36 remaining when the attempted on-side kick was recovered by the Aggies who picked up a first down and then knelt out the clock for the victory. The Aggies remain undefeated at 12-0 and will face Central Cass in the Dakota Bowl next Friday. The Burros end their season at 10-2 and graduate 13 seniors.
