As the area winter storm kept these two teams out of the gym for two days, and Mahnomen-Waubun playing their first game in ten days,  the Thunderbirds and their fans traveled on ice covered roads to visit the Cougars for a Pine To Prairie Conference game Friday night. Mahnomen Waubun was 10 of 11 from the free throw line in the first half to keep them in the game.  Leading 29-26 at halftime, Ada-Borup-West started quick and played well to lead 43-32 with 8:50 remaining.  Mahnomen Waubun continued to play hard, making shots and getting to the free throw line getting back into the game at 49-46 with :50 remaining.  With the Cougars leading 52-48, the Thunderbirds forced a turnover in the final seconds and scored—  it was too little too late for Mahnomen Waubun as the Cougars didn’t need to inbounds the ball as the clock ran out and they earned their second victory this week.  Ada-Borup-West is 2-4. Mahnomen Waubun is 2-2.
