Thompson 12, Hatton-Northwood 2 (6 innings)

Thompson took advantage of 13 walks and incredibly, scored nine runs before they had a base hit, as the Tommies defeated Hatton-Northwood 12-2 in six innings in the North Dakota Region 2 baseball quarterfinals at Mayville State University.

The top seeded Tommies used five walks, an error and a sacrifice fly to take a 6-0 led in the second inning.  Thompson scored three more in the second with a hit batter, four walks and a sacrifice fly.

Hatton-Northwood got on the board in the fourth inning thanks to two unearned runs.  Thompson responded with a Brayden Wolfgram rbi single in their half of the fourth to make it a 10-2 lead.  Then the Tommies scored another run in the fifth inning on Shawn O’Hearn’s infield single.  Thompson scored their final run in the sixth, when Thunder pitcher Ander Thorsgard balked with Will Welke on third…bringing in Welke with the game-ending run.

Drew Odenbach (2-0) was the winning pitcher for Thompson (17-2).  The Tommies take on MayPort-CG Monday night in the Region semifinals at Mayville State.

Rolando Zuniga took the loss for Hatton-Northwood.  The Thunder meet Maple River in the consolation round of the double elimination tournament Monday morning at Mayville State.
