State Class A Quarterfinal Mahnomen/Waubun vs Upsala Swanville
Recap
The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds are headed back to US Bank Stadium thanks in part to a stellar defensive performance giving them a 17-8 win over Upsala Swanville in the state class A quarterfinals. The Thunderbirds relied on a defensive effort that limited the Patriots to just 11 first half yards, and 167 total yards for the game. Meanwhile the offense had to work hard against a tough Patriot defense that kept the high powered Mahnomen Waubun offense in check the entire night. In the end the Thunderbirds made big plays when they needed them and used great field position to come away with the win. Mahnomen Waubun is now 11-0 and will play in the state semi finals against Minneota on Satruday morning at 9 am while Upsala Swanville ends their season at 9-2.
