Experience Fun in the Flatlands this Weekend in Ada
Ada, MN — Experience Fun in the Flatlands this weekend in Ada! Fun in the Flatland’s is Ada’s annual festival that runs September 8th through the 11th and includes partnerships with a number of other organizations and events, including the Norman County 4-H Achievement Days, Norman County Historical Society’s Pioneer Days, and the Kelly Thronson Memorial BBQ. The event itself dates back several decades, but Lee Ann Hall with the Ada Chamber of Commerce says it’s really grown in recent years as they collaborate more with others.
Fun in the Flatlands kicks off with the American Federal Bank Customer Appreciation Lunch on Thursday from 11am until 1pm. Then Friday night features some new events, including a Dekko Center Open House and Shrimp Boil and Street Dance downtown.
Saturday will feature a number of events with a majority of them taking place at the Norman County Fairgrounds, including the Kelly Thronson Memorial BBQ, Pioneer Days Food Court, and 4-H activities. But Hall notes there will be many other unique activities including basket weaving, art demonstrations, and a variety of things to keep the kids busy.
The Bubble Foam Party will also return this year from 2-3pm at the fairgrounds.
A couple of other new activities this year include a Movie at West Side Park sponsored by the Resurrection Free Church featuring the movie Overcomer Saturday at 8pm and a Par 3 Shootout Golf Tournament at the Heart of the Valley Golf Course starting at noon on Saturday.
Fun in the Flatlands wraps up on Sunday with day 2 of the Horse Show at the fairgrounds and the Sock Hop Family Dance from 2-5pm at the Ada Events Center.
