Minnesota — With gas near record highs and inflation driving up the price of pretty much everything, how will that impact the busy summer travel season that lies ahead? Compared to the prices from last year, lodging is up nearly 30%, restaurant and food prices are up around 7%, and gas prices are more than 40%. All added up, that summer getaway could be a big hit to your wallets. However, Explore Minnesota Director Lauren Bennet McGinty remains optimistic that while it may alter some peoples plans, it won’t stop them from traveling to and around Minnesota.

Stay-cations may be a popular option this summer with no relief in sight at the gas pumps. The good news, according to McGinty, is that during the pandemic Minnesotans were able rediscover the many great recreational opportunities available close to home.
