Farm To School Grants
Three area school districts are among 114 that are receiving Farm to School grants from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. Kate Seybold, a regional marketing specialist with the Department of Agriculture, explains what the grants are for.
Seybold says a great deal of money is being awarded in this year’s Farm to School grants.
The Barnesville School District is receiving $32,700 in Farm to School grants: $22,700 for new kitchen equipment and what’s called a $10,000 First Bite grant for schools new to the program. Red Lake is also getting a $10,000 First Bite grant. And Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton is receiving $71,000 in what’s called a Full Tray grant for schools with some Farm to School experience and that are looking to take on larger projects.
