Fertile City Council News & Notes from July 11th Meeting
Fertile, MN — The Fertile City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, July 11th where they discussed a number of current and upcoming facility projects that they are involved in. The biggest of which is the Community Center overhaul. The council received some preliminary estimates from the architects on some of the different things they would like to include in the project, such as windows, roofing, siding, new A/C, and more. Overall, depending on what they chose to do, Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden says they are looking at somewhere between $800,000 and $1 million or maybe more.
In the meantime, the city of Fertile plans to get a more formal plan of action with plans and specs so that they can put the project out for bids, but the project likely won’t get underway until next summer if they choose to move forward. The city is seeking a USDA grant to help cover costs.
The City of Fertile also has a couple of projects in the works out at the Learning Center. The city recently found out they were approved for a grant to cover costs for a building expansion through Polk County.
And the Fertile City Council approved moving forward with plans and specs on a new roof and expansion to a storage facility out at the Learning Center as well.
The Fertile City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
