Fertile City Council News & Notes from May 10th Meeting

Fertile, MN — The Fertile City Council held their regular monthly meeting this past Tuesday, May 10th. The original meeting was scheduled for Monday, but due to lack quorum was pushed back a day. At the meeting, the council discussed a number of upcoming events and approved items in support of them. Under New Business, the council approved their support for a mental health awareness event called Creating A Caring Community, which will take place on June 5th, according to Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden.

The Agassiz Environmental Learning Center also reported to the council this week on an upcoming event called Summerfest, which will take place in early June and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the facility.

And two other annual events are on the schedule for this summer in Fertile, the Fertile Car Show and the Polk County Fair. Liden says the council approved a number of items in preparation for those two events as well.

In other news from this month’s meeting, the Fertile City Council heard from Moore Engineering who provided information on some potential upcoming water projects.

The council also approved a final pay application for their airport project and approved a quote of $6500 to upgrade the Community Center lighting from fluorescent to LED lighting.
