FERTILE, MN—A special city council meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning in Fertile has been cancelled.  The statement about the meeting said the meeting would go into closed session to discuss internal affairs investigation of personnel misconduct.  A statement from the City of Fertile said this closed session would be part of the City’s next scheduled meeting on Monday, August 18.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Department of Administration has ruled that the City of Fertile did not respond appropriately to requests for data from a member of the public that were turned in on September 1, 2023, September 30, 2023, December 24, 2023, and September 13, 2024.  In a press release, Commissioner Tamar Gronvall said she “appreciates the City’s update that it is now providing access to the requested data.  However, these updates do not change the fact that the City has not complied with the (State of Minnesota’s) Data Practices Act.”  You might remember that in July of 2024, the Department of Administration issued an opinion that the City of Fertile did not respond appropriately to a request for Fertile’s data access policies.
