Fosston Chief of Police Urges Drivers To Slow Down
School is now fully in the thick of its return across the country and with its return comes the added danger associated with trying to cross a busy highway during the commute to and from the building. The speed limit through town has been posted at 30mph for many years now in downtown Fosston, but a new crossing beacon near the high school has been implemented asking drivers to reduce speed to 20mph during early morning and afternoon hours when it flashes its lights.
With students safety being a top priority, there is an expectation that local commuters need to adhere to the slower speed limit near the school entrances knowing that students could be coming or going at any given time, and while most people have caught on to the new limit quickly, some are still speeding through the zone at higher than desired speeds.
Fosston Chief of Police Phil Juve tells R&J news, about the zone and what is expected of local drivers during that time period.
