Fosston City Council Meets

FOSSTON, MN—The feud between Essentia Health and the City of Fosston may be heating up again.  Fosston City Administrator Cassie Heide says the health care group, which operates the Fosston Hospital, sent a shot toward the City.

You’ll remember the City of Fosston chose to cancel its agreement with Essentia Health effective the end of this year.  Heide says the City’s Hospital Board hasn’t met in several months and she learned something recently that she finds disturbing.

Tanner Goodrich is Essentia Health’s senior vice president of operations for Essentia’s west market.  

Also at Monday’s City Council meeting, the Council approved its preliminary property tax levy for 2026.

Heide also pointed out that the City of Fosston’s budget is around $5 million–double the previous year’s budget.  But that includes money to cover the cost of refiguring the Fosston Airport’s taxi runways, so that same money that’s coming in is also going out.  Heide says 95 percent of the cost for this work is being covered by other sources.
