Fosston School Referendum: What Is It?

A huge ticket item coming up for the Fosston school district is the big referendum on the ballot for which early voting has now kicked off. The referendum is seeking to add a new capital projects levy and technology bond that would look to raise about $1.04 million for the school district.

If approved by voters, this funding would allow Fosston to sustain our small class sizes, veteran teachers, high-quality programs and the personalized attention students expect and deserve without deeper cuts. The school is currently facing a budget shortfall of about $1 million, which is why the Fosston school district is keen to get voters to get out and vote to get the referendum passed on November 3rd in person or right now via early absentee ballot.

If you are looking for ways to speak directly with the school board and superintendent before casting your vote, there will be several upcoming community meetings including:

– 9/23 Lengby Community Meeting: 6:30–7:30pm · Lengby Community Hall

– 9/30 Gully Community Meeting: 6:30–7:30pm · Gully Community Hall

– 10/7 Fosston Community Meeting: 6:30–7:30pm · Fosston High School Main Gym

There will also be a Fosston Forward information table available at all home sporting events this year and you can Join Superintendent Derek Gieseke for coffee and conversation at the District Office every Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30am, starting September 27 through October 27.
