Free Parks Day at Itasca State Park 

Friday, November 24 is Free Parks Day which means that The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving entrance fees to all 75 state parks and recreation areas in Minnesota and while the summer months might be over there’s still plenty of activities and things to see. One park that still has plenty to see and do is Itasca State Park. Interpretive Naturalist at Itasca Connie Cox highlights some of the must see things attractions at the Park during the fall. 

Cox says that the current weather mixed with the lack of leaves on the trees give hikers and park visitors the chance to see things that you might not normally see during the summer months. 

November 24 is just one of four Free Parks Days and the goal of Free Park Days is to encourage Minnesotans to get outdoors and enjoy the health and wellness benefits of spending time in nature. For more information or to find a state park near you go to www.dnr.state.mn.us.
