Grant opportunities still open with Aitkin County Economic Development

(Aitkin, MN) — Grant opportunities and applications are still open for child care facilities, businesses, and recreation/tourism events to apply for funding through Aitkin County Economic Development.
The application for the 2022 Aitkin County Child Care Facilities Grant is open to new and existing child care providers with the intention of increasing the amount of child care slots and/or child care jobs with the business awarded. A list of eligible expenses and State criteria can be found here:
Grants must be used by eligible businesses in one of three (3) categories. Examples of eligible expenses include:
Category I: Grant awarded for existing Child Care facilities to assist them with physical equipment and infrastructure improvements.
Category II: Grant awarded for the purpose of aiding in training for assistant Child Care workers for their facilities.
Category III: Grant awarded for aid in opening new facilities and/or licensing fees for new or start-up child care facilities.
The following State criteria must be met for eligibility:
The Child Care business must have a physical establishment in Aitkin County.
The Child Care business must have a current active license or in the process of completing the license.
The Aitkin County Business Development & Recreation Grant Program is available to businesses and creation/tourism events in the community with an application deadline of May 31st, 2022 and cab e submitted to Mark Jeffers by email or mail (ACBDRG c/o Mark Jeffers, 307 2nd Street NW, Rm. 316 Aitkin, MN 56431). Decisions of funding will be considered at the Aitkin county Economic Development Committee in June.
