Grants Awarded For Local Clean Energy Projects
Three farms in northwest Minnesota will receive grants from the Rural Energy for America Program, or REAP. R & T Stenerson Farms in Hendrum will use a half million dollar grant to install an energy efficient grain dryer. This project is expected to save $3000 per year. Pederson Brothers Partnership in Bejou will receive almost $150,000 to install a 50 kilowatt solar array, which is expected to save the farm $11,000 per year. And the Byron Marsh farm in Shevlin will also install a 50 kilowatt solar array, thanks to a grant of almost $135,000. The Marsh farm is expected to save $11,000 per year.
