Gull Lake Dam Road closes, detours Oct. 10–14 at Highway 371
BAXTER, Minn. – Workers will switch gears Monday, Oct. 10, as they close and detour Gull Lake Dam Road/Crow Wing County Road 125 at Highway 371, Brainerd, to pave the road and side entrances.
The road will close west of Highway 371 on Monday, Oct. 10 and reopen Friday, Oct. 14. Gull Lake Dam Road will detour along Hartley Lake Road and Green Gables Road (County Road 126) back to Highway 371.
The frontage road and gas station entrance at Gull Lake Dam Road will also close; use Highway 371 for access.
Add extra time onto your commute to avoid late arrival. Slow down and be watchful for pedestrians or school children waiting for buses along the neighborhood detour route.
Access has reopened to Green Gables Road and the Brainerd International Raceway from Highway 371. Off-road work will continue.
In November 2022, work operations will suspend over winter, and in June 2023, crews will return to complete any remaining work, mainly frontage road construction.
When complete in June 2023, the two-mile Highway 371 project will improve safety and access along this busy recreational area of Highway 371 by installing three reduced conflict intersections (RCI), also known as a j turns, at Gull Lake Dam Road (County Road 125), Birchdale Road/BIR main entrance and Green Gables Road (County Road 126). The project will also install frontage roads along the east and west side of Highway 371.
