Halstad City Council News & Notes from June 13th Meeting
Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, June 13th where they discussed the Landmark Building, golf cart ordinance, food trucks, and more. The council did also hear from some concerned citizens who were unhappy about the smell from water discharge earlier this spring. Halstad Mayor Darin Johnson says due to high water levels, they were forced to discharge water earlier than usual.
A couple of ordinances were also discussed this month as well with one of those in relation to food trucks. Mayor Johnson says they are supposed to be charging them a fee, but the city would rather incentivize them to come to town rather than discourage them.
And due to an increase in misuse amongst golf carts and UTVs, Johnson says the council is looking into an ordinance to restrict the use of them around town.
And the Halstad Mayor provides an update on the Landmark building, previously known as the old school. He says they are continuing to explore ways to increase its use.
The Halstad City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
