Halstad City Council News & Notes from May 9th Meeting
Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, May 9th, but a few of the key discussion items were off the table this month as a couple of the councilmembers were unable to attend and provide input. Those hot topic items include their contract with the Norman County Sheriff’s Office and their Rental Housing Ordinance, according to Halstad Mayor Darin Johnson. The rental housing ordinance discussion stems from problems they had at the New North Properties apartment. However, Mayor Johnson noted that they did recently inspect the now-vacated apartment and are still seeking solutions on how to move forward with it.
Also at this week’s meeting, the Halstad City Council did agree to sell a portion of land next to the water tower to the adjacent land owner.
And at last month’s meeting, the Halstad City Council approved a liquor license for the new owners of the Back Forty Bar. Mayor Johnson says the bar will some see upgrades and name change when it does reopen under the new ownership.
The Halstad City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
