Highway 59 Closed For 2 Weeks South Of Erskine
Highway 59 south of Erskine will be closed for the next couple of weeks as of yesterday as emergency repairs begin on a section of shoulder for the road near Lake Bensen. Crews are scheduled to repair a section of the roadway embankment that has started eroding away and they will be installing deeper sheet piling to reinforce the soil and create a stable slope.
Recently, lower lake levels have reduced the support that typically holds the roadway embankment in place. During the closure a detour will be in place for commuters going through the area, as the re-route will go to Polk County Road 34 near Bradley Lake via County Roads 41 and 206.
MnDOT asks that drivers stay alert and obey posted signs and detour routes, plan for additional travel time, and slow down and use caution when approaching work zones.
