Hillsboro City Commission Agrees to Pay Raise
Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their 2nd regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, January 17th. At the meeting the commission agreed to a sizable pay increase that would still save the taxpayers money. Hillsboro City Commission President Levi Reese says they approved getting rid of the health insurance option for commissioners and a new annual salary of $4800 for commissioners and $6600 for commission president, which is more than double previous salaries.
Commissioners will also now get paid on a monthly basis instead of twice-annually. President Reese adds that the pay increase isn’t about padding their own pockets, but rather an incentive for future community members to encourage them to run for commission.
Only Commissioner Paul Geray voted against the commission pay increase.
