Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their 2nd regular monthly meeting on Monday night, August 15th at the Main Street Community Center. At the meeting, the commission received a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning committee on changes to their building permit process. Hillsboro Commission President Levi Reese says the new process would streamline non-structural permits requests such as siding or shingles.

The other change approved this week was that the city public works crews will no longer be responsible for locating lines for new construction, which Reese says is for Liability reasons.

An update from the Beautification Committee and their blight reports, President Reese notes that they received word that their citations will be able to be tried in court.

And under the public comment portion of the meeting, the Hillsboro City Commission heard from a citizen concerned about the dust from Anchor Ingredients. As this has been brought up before in previous meetings, Reese wanted to assure residents that they, along with Anchor, are working to find a solution.

The commission also approved tax incentives for 1881 Extraction and approved the appointment of Kyle Klapper to the Hillsboro Airport Authority following the resignation of Larry Mueller.
