The Hillsboro City Commission met in regular session Tuesday evening.

The commission discussed the effects of the recent holiday ice storm. On the heels of Governor Burgum’s emergency declaration last Friday, the commission approved City Attorney, J.R. Strom, to draft a complimentary declaration for the city. Residents should contact city hall for information on how to dispose of any downed trees or other debris still lingering from last week’s storm.

Other approved action items included: the designation of Dakota Heritage Bank-Hillsboro and Goose River Bank-Hillsboro as depositories of public funds; a gaming site authorization and budget request from the Hillsboro Fire Department; and a transfer of a liquor license application for Tap That Bar.

As they enter a new year, Commission President, Levi Reese, highlights some of the main concerns the commission will oversee in 2024.

The Commission also discussed renewing an information technology service agreement with Remark Consulting. No formal action was taken on the renewal and the matter was tabled to the next meeting.
