The Hillsboro School Board added an extra meeting on Thursday morning to discuss some changes for the upcoming school year. Superintendent Jon Dryburgh fills us in on the meeting details.

The board covered Smart Snack regulation, which will get healthier food and drink options in the vending machines in the school and the patriotic exercises that will now require the pledge of allegiance to be spoken each morning. The policies that received approval like the cell phone regulation will receive their second reading and go into policy after the August 14th meeting.

The board opted to not implement several fees including student learner and technology fees as well as fees for specific classes. Dryburgh says ag and art classes will be $25 to cover the consumables.

Minor adjustments were made the student handbooks, but many things remain the same as back-to-school night gets closer
