Hillsboro School Special Debt Limit Election Set for March 28th
Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro School District is continuing to spread the information about their upcoming debt limit election that is scheduled for the end of this month. If approved, the district would be allowed to increase their debt limit from 5% to 10%. With the district eyeing a potential facility overhaul to meet their space needs, Hillsboro School Superintendent Paula Suda says they need to increase their debt limit before even considering moving forward with that process.
Suda says the costs of construction have greatly increased in recent years. Building a new high school would cost upwards of $50 million and even just doing renovations would likely be more than $20 million, so that’s why increasing the debt is a must for either project.
The Hillsboro School Debt Limit Election will take place on Tuesday, March 28th from 7am until 7pm at the Hillsboro High School. Absentee ballots are available as well.
