Hunters reminded to follow Minnesota’s trespassing laws
Deer hunting season has arrived, and Northwest Minnesota gives hunters plenty of opportunities to hunt on public land in Minnesota. However, every year there’s always incidents of hunters trespassing on private lands. Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halverson shares some reminders for hunters, and landowners when it comes to Minnesota’s trespassing laws.
Halvorson says hunters do have rights, when it comes to retrieving a deer. However, Halvorson says there are things that a hunter can do to avoid a potential conflict with a landowner.
As mentioned earlier, Northwest Minnesota does have a lot of public land that can be used by everyone. Despite this, Halverson says conflicts can still arise on public land, and he encourages people to be good sportsmen when hunting on public lands.
