Insect population outlook
Insects can have major effects on crops across the Red River Valley, and producers have already begun planning for how they will fight them. Dr Mark Botel with the University of Minnesota tells us how the insect population fared after a cold winter.
Botel also highlighted some of the other insects that producers need to be on the lookout for this year.
As for laying down insecticides, Botel says ideally you’d put them down while planting, but he says you can lay them down later if needed.
You can listen to the full conversation with Dr Mark Botel as a part of the Farm to Field Show, which airs this afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 on KRJB 106.5 FM.
