International Falls School Lockdown and Evacuation.
On 09/21/22, at approximately 1326 hours, the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received
a call of an active shooter at the International Falls High School. International Falls Police Department
School Resource Officer Ballejo was at the school at the time of the call and reported there was no sign
of a shooting at the school. Officer Ballejo responded directly to the room where the threat was
reported. The room was cleared and no threat was found. The school was locked down and law
enforcement officers cleared the school as a precaution. After the initial sweep, no threat was found
and students and staff were evacuated to the arena. Officers performed a secondary search of the
building and no threat was found. It should be noted that other Law Enforcement Agencies around the
state have reported several other calls targeting school districts across the state which have been found
to be false. The International Falls Police Department was assisted by the Koochiching County Sheriff’s
Office, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and International Falls Fire/Rescue/EMS.
