Audubon, MN — The Lake Park-Audubon School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, April 26th. At the meeting the board locked in the final designs for their upcoming elementary remodel and expansion. Lake Park-Audubon Superintendent Dr. Tim Godfrey says they’ve had to make a few small changes due to increases in costs, but they can now move forward with seeking bids for work to begin this fall.

The district will need to remove an old house adjacent to the school for the building project. However, there were no bids for the removal of it, so they will move forward with demolition.

A more controversial issue was also discussed this week as well along the subject of authorizing a member of the school staff to conceal carry a firearm. Superintendent Godfrey says the board did not feel comfortable with that scenario at this point without more research.

And the school board did authorize the use of teacher procurement cards, which Godfrey notes will allow teaching staff to purchase small amounts of items without going through the tedious approval process beforehand.

The Lake Park-Audubon School Board also approved using May 27th as a make-up day for students after using up all their snow days, which will be a half day.
