Local Couples Trip to Israel Cut Short during Bombings
On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas led surprise attacks against Israel. On the very same day Jim and Nina Jim and Nina Palubicki of Fosston along with friends Rick and Cheryl Mollin of Gonvick were on a plane making their way to the Holy Land. Much to their shock, they ended up flying directly into a war zone. Being avid travelers and not one to give in to fear, Nina shares a little about their experience and how they handled the tense situation:
With the tours cut short and airports closing, international travelers were left to fend for themselves. Jim Palubicki explains more:
With their travels cut short and no current way out of the country, the travel group decided to make the best of it. They found themselves traveling the Holy Land on a very private tour throughout Jerusalem. They were able to go to multiple sights and experience them in a way that normally would be impossible with large crowds. With no travel in or our of Israel, the group chose to drive to Jourdan to find flights back to the United States from there.
Travel was limited but the Palubickis truly made the best of the experience. They soon realized they were not the only ones finding refuge and safety in the confounds of the hotel. All in all, the Palubickis felt safe and secure throughout the trip and are able to give insight into the beautiful people and sights in Israel as well as Jordan.
