LPA Introduces Work-Based Learning Program
Lake Park, MN — The Lake Park-Audubon School District just officially announced the exciting addition of a new Work-Based Learning Curriculum that will begin this fall for Juniors and Seniors, and within a day the course was already filled with students who are interested. New LPA Business Teacher Toni Thorpe will be heading the program. Superintendent Dr. Tim Godfrey says the course will include both classroom instruction as well as real world, on-site learning at area businesses where students can learn teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
While it was capped at 10 students this year, Superintendent Godfrey notes that they hope to continue to grow it as needed to meet the demand.
Dr. Godfrey adds that not only will the Work Based Learning program help provide the necessary work skills for the students, but also potentially help fill some positions for their area employers in desperate need of workforce.
Business Teacher Troy Hauglund will also assist with the program. Enrollment will be expanded as the program progresses.
