McGregor School Board votes to discontinue Activity Bus at April 25th meeting

(McGregor, MN) — The McGregor School Board held their regular meeting for the month of April on Monday as they looked at their FY23 Preliminary Budget and personnel matters from the High School Library. 

Business Manager Shauna Dalchow reviewed the initial numbers for the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget which could see some levity for next year.

The Preliminary Budget was approved as well as the Northern Lights Special Education Coop Membership Enrollment Renewal Agreement for 2022-22 and the Resolution between ISD #4 and Sourcewell Risk Management Better Health Collective.

Superintendent and Elementary Principal Brad Johnson opened talks on discontinuing the Activity School Bus after this school year.

The Board voted in favor of discontinuing the Activity Bus after the current school year. Superintendent Johnson presented more information concerning the raise in substitute teacher pay.

Substitute Teacher pay will be increased to $120 per day effective May 1st. Johnson also gave an update on the Referendum Building project which continues to see progression.

The McGregor School Board did also accept donations from 2 Dads Premium Cocktails, Minnewawa’s Sportsmen’s Club, and McGregor Fire Relief totaling $7,640 for various school programs and groups. 

Approval was also given to hire Andrew Rubich as Assistant 2 Football Coach, the retirement of Wendy Hamilton, and the resignations of High School Math Teacher Pablo Rodriguez and High School Teacher Jeffrey Tyson. The Board also approved the hiring Amy Gehlar as the Title 1 Math Teacher, Kayla Hendrickson as kindergarten Teacher, Judith Ernhart as High School Special Education Teacher, and Joseph Simendstad as district Technology Coordinator for the 2022-23 school year.

The McGregor School Board will hold a work session meeting on May 9th at 6pm with their next regular meeting on May 23rd at 6pm.
