McGregor School District not offering free meals for upcoming school year

Post from Superintendent and Elementary Principal Brad Johnson from the McGregor School District #4 Facebook page:

I want to make our families aware that there will not be free meals provided by the government this year as they have done for the previous two years because of Covid. We also did not qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision that was in place previous to Covid, which allowed the school district to provide free meals to K-6th graders. Families this year will either have to pay for their children’s meals or apply for Free and Reduced meals and see if you may qualify.

Forms for the Free and Reduced meals will be mailed out before school begins. Families may also go online and fill out a printable form on the District’s webpage and submit it to the school, or do the online version in the JMC Family Portal.

Go under – Application for Educational Benefits

Your children may qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. To apply, complete the enclosed application following the instructions. A new application must be submitted each year.

State funds help pay for reduced-price school meals, so all students who are approved for either free or reduced-price school meals will receive school meals at no charge.

Sorry about this change but we want families to have plenty of time to prepare for these changes.

Meal Prices this year are:

Breakfast $1.75 (K-12)

Lunch $2.45 (K-6) and $2.55 (7-12)
