Minnesota DNR To Celebrate Forest Products Week
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be joining many other state natural resource entities this coming week in the celebration of National Forest Products Week which runs from October 18th-October 24th. The aim is to highlight healthy, well-managed forests can provide renewable wood products and support the economy.
Minnesota has long been known for its vast woodlands and forests, and they are used every year to support the local economy to the tune of more than $25 billion in total economic output which has helped create over 70,000 jobs for Minnesotans. The forests in Minnesota are versatile in their use, with the large saw logs being used for lumber and the smaller trees being used as paper production material, mulch, or fuel for heat among various other uses.
This National Forest Products Week, the Minnesota DNR wants everyone across the state to choose products from sustainably managed forests. For more information go to https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/um/index.html
