The Fourth annual Northern Soy Marketing Crop Tour is right around the corner with the dates set for September 21st-25th and will welcome participants from southeast Asia this year with Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand among the growing international markets that will be represented at this year’s tour. Many northern soybean farmers have come to know these markets as expanding trade partners in recent years.

The tour will begin in Minnesota on the western side with participants spending the first morning at the University of Minnesota’s soybean research plots and lab and then NSM Director Patrick O’Leary will bring the group to his personal farm. At his farm, which has been the starting point of the tour in both 2023 and 2024 previously, participants will be able to see a showcase of how the Minnesota soy industry has been able to grow the way it has with a showing of the equipment and weather permitting, the harvest as well.

The tour will also take participants to the Ag Processing Inc crush plant here in Minnesota before continuing into South Dakota for the final days of the tour. Between Minnesota and South Dakota, the 2 states combine to produce nearly 20 percent of the United States soybeans grown domestically every year and the tour will allow the area to showcase yet again what makes northern US soy so excellent.
