Mississippi River to crest at 15 feet this week

The recent heavy and frequent rains to the area have created higher water levels in lakes and rivers. The Mississippi River level is currently at 14 feet and is expected to crest at 15 feet on Wednesday May 18. 

Aitkin County Emergency Management has sandbags available to residents who wish to undertake sandbagging operations.  If you are in need of sandbags, they will be available at the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office/Jail sallyport.  Aitkin County only has the sandbags available, the sand to fill the bags will be the responsibility of each individual, neighborhood or township.
